OR Tambo Airport Bus Terminals

• This bus terminal serves as the pick-up point for various bus services, including those to and from Johannesburg, Sandton, and Pretoria, and handles long-distance coach services as well. 
• It is a distinct area from the taxi and shuttle terminus, which is located behind the airport hotels.
• Cross-border buses to Botswana and Eswatini.
• The terminal has five bus city lines that offer trips to the city, which are operated by Metrobus and Putco.

Its a terminal for all buses at the airport. Located on the Arrivals level opposite Terminal A. To get to the bus and coach terminus, just follow the bus and coach icons to the terminus, which is in the multi-storey parkade, behind the car-hire depots. Or pass the Intercontinental Hotel next to the outside statue of Oliver Reginald Tambo.

Some of the buses operate in the morning and the evening only when the majority of the passengers arrive or depart. There are also private transfers that are operated by Magic Bus, Luxliner, Airport Link, Swift and the Emperors Palace Airport shuttle Service. Multiple daily private shuttle services are available from the airport to all parts of South Africa.

City bus service

There is Harambe bus service which operates from the airport to Tembisa hospital. The route passes through Kempton park CBD, Festival mall, choorkp, etc.

The buses operate at 20-minute service intervals during peak hours (morning peak 5.45am to 8.05am and afternoon peak 3pm to 6pm). The buses operate at 30-minute intervals during off-peak hours.

The first bus leaves Tembisa at 3.45am to the airport and the last bus leaves the airport at 10.15pm to Tembisa.

Intercity bus

Intercity xpress provides a full luxury coach service from the airport to Durban bus station. There offer the service twice daily i.e in the morning and the evening. Its an 8 hour journey that passes through the ever changing and amazing scenery of South Africa.

Cross-border

Scheduled cross border coach services are also available to neighbouring countries. There is Transmagnific which provides a service to Eswatini and Mozambique.  Coaches to Gaborone, Bostwana there is Intercape, Flightconnect, NKK express and AT & T Monnakgotla coaches.

Booking buses and shuttle

Its strongly recommended to book online and in advance to secure your seat and avoid waiting for too long at the airport.

Most shuttle companies have their offices inside the terminal building. You can still book at the office and get all the relevant information you might need.
