Finally more competition on the Lilongwe – Dar es Salaam route. A new Tanzania based bus operator Surprise luxury joins the route. Why does it really matter? With the recent bilateral agreements between Malawi and Tanzania to reduce trade barriers, these bus services are the literal wheels of regional integration.
The coach is comprised of two distinct sections: VIP and semi-luxury. The introductory price from Lilongwe is MWK230,000 for VIP and MWK200,000 for semi-luxury, equivalent to USD50. For the route from Dar es Salaam to Lilongwe, the prices are Tsh140,000 for VIP and Tsh120,000 for semi-luxury.
