All children (under 18) arriving in or departing from South Africa must have the correct documentation in line with Immigration Regulations designed to protect minors from trafficking and abuse.
- Consent letters both parents signed by the commissioner of Oath.
- Certified Birth certificate.
- If any of the parents is late.
- Certified death certificate is required
- Guardians consent letter signed by the commitioner of Oath.
- If names on birth certificate are different from the ones parents have due to divorce and marriage
- An Affidavit is needed to state the reason why parents and a child are not using the same names as they appear on Birth certificate
- Parents /Guardians Certified National identity card Or Passport if you are a foreigner

Exemptions
- Foreign children with a valid South African visa don’t need extra documents beyond those submitted with the visa application.
- Children in direct transit through an airport may be exempt.
- South African children using South African passports don’t need to carry a birth certificate.
Please note:

- If uncertain about any documents needed, always carry supporting documentation.
- In the case of school tours, the parental consent letter may be replaced with a letter from the school principal confirming that all consent letters are held by the school. Upon producing this letter, immigration officers at ports of entry and South African missions abroad would not require any additional documents from individual scholars
